What are the Benefits of Jin Shin Jyutsu?
To a certain extent, the experience of Jin Shin Jyutsu is unique to each person for each session. However, the most common effect is that of deep relaxation. As simple as this technique is, it yields amazing results physically, as well as emotionally. It is effective in relieving:
- pain
- stiff, spastic, or strained muscles and joints
- respiratory conditions
- appetite imbalance
- reproductive difficulties.
It has a dramatic effect on emotional problems, and people frequently have experiences of spiritual integration during or after a session. Stress is alleviated and the client leaves feeling much more centered and relaxed. Although for chronic conditions several sessions might be needed, improvement is usually experienced after only one session.
What is Jin Shin Jyutsu?
Jin Shin Jyutsu® is an ancient oriental Art of harmonizing life energy within the body. Said to predate Buddha and Moses, it was rediscovered in the early 1900’s by Master Jiro Murai, who, after recovery from a “terminal” illness, devoted himself to the revival of the Art for future generations. Literally defined, Jin Shin Jyutsu is the Art of the Creator expressed through knowing and compassionate man. Mary Burmeister is credited with spread of Jin Shin Jyutsu throughout the world.
It is a physio-philosophy that involves the application of the hands for gently balancing the flow of life energy in the body; more generally, it is the awakening to awareness of complete harmony within the self and the universe. It is based on the concept of 26 Energy Safety Locks which correspond to acupuncture points. The hands are placed on combinations of the Energy Locks to jumper cable the connection and remove any blockages to the flow of energy through the body.
There are two important distinctions between Jin Shin Jyutsu and many other massage and oriental healing modalities. First, Jin Shin Jyutsu is an art, as opposed to a technique; a technique is a mechanical application, whereas an art is a skillful creation. Second, Jin Shin Jyutsu is not a physical manipulation of tissue and uses only minimal pressure.
What will my Jin Shin Jyutsu session be like?
A Jin Shin Jyutsu session generally lasts an hour, and does not involve massage. It is a gentle, yet powerful art, practiced by placing fingertips (over clothing) onto the safety energy locks in specific combinations. There is no pain or physical manipulation. The practitioner uses his/her hands and “jumper cables” the energy in order to recharge the “battery of life”, enabling universal energy to flow through the client’s body and reawaken its natural healing ability.
In a typical Jin Shin Jyutsu session, the receiver remains clothed and lies face-up on a cushioned surface. There are numerous flows which can be applied depending on the client’s needs. A “flow” is a series of hand placement combinations that stimulates circulation of energy along a given pathway. Some flows address specific organs or can address a number of physical problems in the body.
